Antwerp - Flanders' photography city
Finally it felt safe to travel again to Belgium. I knew that there was a photo festival ongoing in Antwerp and I bought two tickets on line, one for the expo in the Pilotage Building and one for the expo in the Waagnatie that was housing the exhibition of Steve McCurry.
AntwerpPhoto Festival is photography’s home port, the Pilotage Building is its vintage point. Belgian and foreign photographers – household names and fresh talent – introduce you to new worlds and people. Work can be seen of the following photographers:
- Finbarr O’Reilly , winner of the Prix Carmignac
- Jimmy Kets, 20 years of photojounalism
- Erwin Olaf, fooled by Covid-19: April Fool 2020
For me the photo exhibition of the year is The World of Steve McCurry in the Waagnatie. I believe Steve McCurry is one of the best photographers in the world. I admire his colour work. The exhibition is just top. It features both well-known and never-before-exhibited work from the 40-year career of this Magnum photographer.

The photos here below I have taken during this day of inspiration. The exhibition is open until 26th September 2021. Highly recommended!
