First experiment with AI in Photoshop and Lightroom
In the last months I have tried the AI options in both LR and PS to edit some of our photos which needed some serious editing to remove distracting persons. In some of the touristic hotspots photos are sometimes just not good because people are all over the place. Having said that, our aim is to photograph as pure as possible, i.e. very limited editing, apart from the “normal” editing.
However the possibilities now with AI are incredible. Here below an example. The photo was taken in San Gimignano in May 2025. The left one is the original, the right one is the AI edited version. I used Distraction Removal in LR for the persons on the right and generative fill in PS for the person on the left. The result? Judge yourself.
Memories of my father
Last week it was 5 years ago that my father died at the age of 95. He was born 100 years ago. I scanned old photo’s of my parents and I came across this photo which was taken when he was maybe 4 years old. I recognise his face in the photo. The photo is in black and white of course. I was thinking how this photo would look like in colour. I colorised it with Photoshop, the first time I did this, and I was impressed by the result. It is special to work on photos of people you love so much.
‘At the end of a long day on the land ‘
In 2002 we visited Karpathos, one of the most beautiful islands of Greece.
At the end of the day we were invited by three elderly sisters who lived together in a small farm just outside Olympos. They were still working on the land despite their age. Here one of the sisters is unloading the donkey.
Semana Santa
This photo was taken in Ampudia in Spain, during a procession in the late evening of Maundy Thursday in April 2023. It seems like a biblical scene. More photos of Ampudia and the procession you will find here: Castilla y León (please click).
